COP8 - The 8th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity meets in Brazil this March
The 8th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on BiologicalDiversity meets in Curitiba, Bazil, 20-31 March.
Delegates from over 175 countries will meet and work together on manyissues including progress in reducing the rate of biodiversity loss by 2010and the operations of the convention (CBD).
Preparatory discussion have been held at EU level as well as - in therecent 4th Biodiversity in Europe Conference in Croatia - for thepan-European level.
All COP8 documents can be found in the portal of the Convention http://www.cbd.int/doc/?meeting=cop-08 . The agenda of the meeting is included in the documents UNEP/CBD/COP/8/1and UNEP/CBD/COP/8/1/Add.1 .
At COP8 a workshop will be held on 20 March on monitoring progresstowards the 2010 Biodiversity target.
The workshop will discuss progress in the SEBI2010 indicator progress onStreamlining European 2010 Biodiversity Indicators. This process contributesto implementation of the Biodiversity Convention (CBD).
The workshop is sponsored by the European Commission and the EuropeanEnvironment Agency (EEA).
