Story IUFRO Conference Monitoring and indicators of forest biodiversity in Europe - from ideas to operationality

In the framework of the Italian EU Presidency some 160 forest experts gathered in Florence to discuss how to further develop biodiversity assessment tools; i.e. indicators of biodiversity and preferred methodologies to collect data. More than 100 presentations, including posters, were given showing many aspects of the issue, from Europe and other parts of the world. The outcome of the Conference will serve the Ministerial Conference for Protection of Forests in Europe (MCPFE), the EU Forest Focus scheme and the Core set of Environmental indicators proposed by the European Environment Agency (EEA).
