Story The Convention on Biological Diversity. Ninth meeting of SBSTTA in Montreal

SBSTTA (The Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice to the Convention on Biological Diversity) is holding its ninth meeting 10 - 14 November in Montreal at the Secretariat of the Convention. The purpose of the SBSTTA meeting is to ensure good advice in preparation for the seventh COP (Conference of the parties), to be held in early 2004 in Kuala Lumpur. The main concern is how to achieve the target set for 2010 of significantly reducing the loss of biodiversity in the world. The meeting will deal with many issues; the main themes are protected areas, mountains ecosystems and transfer of technology.
