The Kiev ministerial conference is the fifth such event held under the 'Environment for Europe' process begun in 1991. A Biodiversity Resolution is submitted for adoption, pointing to the importance of a pan-European ecological network of nature sites (PEEN) and to the need for coordination and collaboration on biodiversity monitoring and indicator development.
